Heading west on the Long Island Expressway towards Queens, it says to take the Syosset exit44 (route 130) only to go around the loop back on 495 goin same way.

Hi @HardwareHyena, That does not sound right I am going to forward this to our developer to look into. You may also want to check your truck presets and confirm if you have any options to avoid when routing because can alter your route.

Possibly GPS is picking up low bridge on the LIE, NY mark them a foot lower. 13'6 would be marked 12'6" up the bridge height on your GPS. Also the low measurement is for the shoulder height

Why does NYC put incorrect measurements on bridges? Once you find out, how can you believe any of their signs?

Everything is a foot higer than listed.Unless it says avual height is xxx.Sign colors mean nothing.Yellow is the standard warning, while white is the posted height usually on the structure. Both are a foot higher than posted. Why? Who knows i heard so many different stories.

NYC driver of 22yrs here. I go under 12'1 marked overpasses with 13'6" trailer all the time. NYC tip: if it's a yellow height sign it's at least 2' more than marked. If it's a white height sign it's 1' more than marked. Best tip: if it looks like it's been hit, it's less than 13'6", if it looks like it's never been hit, it's more than 13'6".

You can travel the entire length of the LIE (495) both directions in any lane with 13'6" and you will not hit anything. Also, you can travel the entire length of the BQE (278) both directions in any lane with a 13'6" and not hit anything.

Axle center to the top is height marked. As close as I could get is around 12 foot actual and 12 1 in practice. Running around under those big roads can be unnerving, although they finished up construction onthe BQE on the western end. The big bridges have an upper deck and a lower deck, trucks on upper deck only except if detoured off. I've been on both decks of the Verrazano both ways and I didn't go that much.

High winds can be a problem, too. The longest view out is off Throgs Neck headed back to The Bronx to the right(seaward).

They took out the tollbooths, too, the Port Authority EZ Pass is the best to use, but the vehicle can be registered and billed electronically, unregistered were ticketed, and that's why we finally got EZ Pass.

That works on some of the big bridges on the west side of Jersey, too. And it's much nicer to not have to stop to pay them.
