How often are you guys changing your oil in the Permian basin? What kind of oil are you using? Where are you going to get a decent oil change?

Any severe oil field work I do 500 hour oil changes, any super severe goes down to 400 hours.

    Shell rotella is my choice.

Isn't the stuff just shooting out of the ground out there? The freshest, purest draft oil one can imagine. Just get a bucket and funnel and catch some.

I haven't worked out in the basin, but from what I know most of the work is legal loads ,unless your hauling heavy (100,000)+ and pulling a lot of hills, you really shouldn't waist your money on changing the oil on a severe duty schedule.
I work in the north east and all our loads are 100,000+ ,we do our oil at 15,000 which is a little sooner than it should be , I'm assuming its very dusty out there, I would pay attention to my air filters before worrying about short oil change intervals , just my opinion

As a frac maintenance personnel for years, that is the same interval we used on our engines. 200/400/800 for PM's in the patch. 200s were simply filters. We pulled oil samples as well and modified PM intervals as needed, but those 200/400/800 numbers never changed. These are for larger diesel engines, but they are in the same environment, so I would agree with bonder45 on his intervals.
