I looked at Zillow website and posted those two photos of the log home.
Buddy of mine lived in Fairbanks and was an owner-operator. He loved the place.
He's now retired and living in a beachfront condo in Vietnam.

Both my wife and her sister and her kids then grandkids lived in Fairbanks for 17+ years. Their grandmother at age 80 even moved up there from Arkansas to be near the grandkids. I used to call my wife and she would tell me that it is -50 below. She worked at the hospital so staying home was never an option. The good thing was that it didn't snow when temps were that cold. I worked up there for a few months in the summer of '91 and I loved it. Had a good job and I wanted to stay but my mom was in poor health at home so I went back home. I tell you one thing I found out. You walk out of the airport in winter when it's -30 below, it will definitely get your attention.
