    It looks like many of the existing US ELD's will not be compliant. Canadian units must be approved by an independent testing firm. Apparently only about 30 existing units will be approved.

    No way. Theyhave stated that units have to meet a Cdn. standard. Has to do with the ease of changing the log.

    I posted about this quite a long time ago. Self-certification was the primary reason for Canada's delay and why they are at odds with the FMCSA.

    We Canadians often feel that we should have our own standards. Remember when anything electric had to be CSA. Or when vehicles had to have a different security system.

    In this case I agree; self-certification is a mistake... unless all that they are interested in is the appearance of doing something as opposed to actually doing something.

    Oh, and as far as I am concerned (and based on experience), there is never any reason to just blindly accept US standards, e.g. Boeing.

    This is the dumbest post I've read here. Those regs and self certification were written long before Trump was elected. When Trump's was elected there was hope that the elog mandate was going to be reversed.

    If anyone wants to see dumb posts just read mudflaps posts on Covid. However I was wrong about Trump and the eld. It does smell like the stupid things Trump has done.
