They pull those doubles in the NW. They have a bonus for it, I can't remember what it is. 3-5 cents I think.....

But I do know you have to live within that area...north west. And you do have to take a brief training period....regardless of your experience.

Last time I spoke with someone about them. They were only running 9 units. It could be more, could be less now.

And they tuned at max HP :D

Excuse my ignorance. I'm a nube. What's that mean; 'tuned at max HP'?

The horse power is set to max at the ECM.

IE The engine is rated at 515 HP, it is pulling at 515 HP. Not 425.

Companies de-tune the engines for maximum fuel economy. Not the case with the heavy haul trucks at W&S.

    jack_knife_jimmy Thanks this.

As mentioned, NW only. There's a pretty good waiting list to pull doubles.

what is it that is considered reasonable distance? I have seen the site and it says if you live within reasonable distance to one of their terminals, then apply.... i live in south florida and i'm getting the "not hiring out of florida" bs from other companies

I think I will jump in here. A bit over a year ago I drove for Watkins Shepard. I liked it. No maybe the pay wasn't the best in the country but the folks were good and if you had a good attitude they treated you the same. It was my first driving job. I like the 10 day orientation and no driving with trainer for weeks. Worked well for me.

I left driving because I had to be home for family reasons. Those have resolved and now I am going to try and go back to W-S. Sent in paperwork this past Friday and am going to call tomorrow and see what is up.

Live in Rydal, GA just south of the Dalton, GA terminal - where I drove out of before.

I am/ was looking forward to school starting Oct 26th. This is my first driving job. Having some problems with my blood pressure. Looks like this might derail some plans I've made.
