I give up, I thought I’d take advantage of surplus Pilot points and a 30% off antenna sale day and replace my old nasty looking Wilson 2000 for a pretty, new one. I even picked up a new “heavy duty” mount, which never tightened up. I went back to my old mount, screwed in the new 2000 and got the dreaded antenna warning. I switched back, got the warning again. Traded to a new mount, swapped the new antenna for another, and the warning went away on the old antenna, but still lights up on the even newer antenna. I’m back to the old antenna and no warning...

Well a 2000 is not the right choice for that truck..
I would suggest the top loaded skip shooter or firestick 6' or 7'....
Do some bonding between the door side of hinge to cab side of hinge..

rabbiporkchop and Diesel Dave Thank this.

I bought a new Wilson 5000 mag mount for the same reason you replaced yours. Couldn't get it to tune. It had nor resonant point. Went back to the old ugly

    rabbiporkchop Thanks this.

No matter what truck ive had, seems you always need to trim a little off that whip.

Get a cheap swr meter or have a shop check your swr,the whip is probably to long, and needs to be cut down some.

Edit: You're in a cascadia, might need to get a longer base.

Thanks, it’s getting harder to find a shop, sadly there aren’t any on my dedicated route. It’s just strange that the same model antenna, same length, won’t work on the same truck, same mount!

    Sounds like a bad antenna..

Get a skip shooter or firestick that 6' or 7ft..

So this would be the second bad antenna in a row, since I took the first one back thinking it was bad.
The next strange thing, just for giggles I put the mast from the old Wilson onto the new antenna and the warning disappeared! I filed the chrome from the new mast, reinstalled it and it works! I put it on a meter and the best I’ve been able to get is 1:2, but that may be all I can get on this plastic truck.
    New coax had zero effect.
I even pulled out an old 4’ Firestick and couldn’t get any better than 1:2.7.
