While the lumper fee does suck, you'd have been charged that much even if you got unloaded on your actual appt. time.

My question is this, why not just get unloaded at your scheduled appt. time and deal with the hours issue afterwards? Saves yourself a headache.

FYI-That C&S has a holding lot where you can park overnight for however long you need to. They start handing out dock assignments at the exit to that holding lot at around 6:30am. A guy in a white pickup truck with a flashing yellow light on top is the guy to look for.

I've had my experience with C&S in Upper Marlboro,Md. I do LTL and most loads are a few skids with no breakdown.first few visits me and the lumpers didn't get along cause they were not getting paid, gave me a hard time blocking my door, making me wait for hours to sign off on bills.finally had it out with one of the lumpers when he tried to talk to me like a piece of s#$#. since then no more problems, they see me come in and don't even ask if I need lumper service anymore......not sure they would help me if i needed it now anyway !

Went to the one in North East, MD. Guard gave me all kinds of crap for being 5 minutes before midnight. What an a hole. I told him, i didnt know it was so horrible to be 5 minutes early. After i got done there, i was thinking...I was thinking, i shouldve told him that i was going to take it back to the shipper. What an a hole.

The lady at the counter was the only one that i didnt want to punch in the face.

IF i wasnt on a dedicated account at the time, i would have done things a little bit differently. Would have definitely threatened to return to the shipper.

I had good luck at the Westfield, MA C&S, but terrible luck down the road at the one in Windsor Locks, CT. Sat there all night until it was time to load their company trucks - boy, did the unload go fast when they needed the door cleared to load one of their trucks! I took the security guards at Wesfield for a ride in my trailer to the gate after they walked back in to put a box in my empty - after I had gone to the window and left with my signed bill. They were mighty cold and scared when I went back with the gate guard to check the empty :)...

ALL C & S are horrible from my personal experience, and from my drivers. Long waits, big lumpers, and just all around bs. I think Ill add a 25.00 bs charge to all loads to C&S for my drivers,

I used to bring in a lot of west coast produce to that HatField MA C&S. I worked for Van Pak at the time. The president of Van Pak at the time sit on the Board of Directors of C&S. It was easy for me cause it was always a drop and hook there when we brought produce... Then a quick jot back south and the Van Pak terminal was just down in Springfield, back behind the Pride Truck stop... So parking was not an issue most of the time. I know you New England runners know that old Pride TS!! :biggrin_25524:
