My hubby started with Western at the end of April this year. While the pay isn't great, they do take newbies. DH was fresh out of school and hired. He was trained for 4-5 weeks and then sent out on his own. As for the post from the person not getting paid for 6 weeks, that is going to depend on the trainer I think. DH's trainer didn't like to turn in his trip-pak's until he had a certain number of miles. So the pay was sporadic during training. Now he gets paid every Friday like clockwork. The only complaint I have there is getting his pay stubs. Sometimes we have to request those.

Home time has been fine. They have gotten him home every time we have requested. Our Anniversary, doctor appointments, no problem. They do like you to stay out every once and a while, but that is just a company trying to make money. Can you really blame them?

Anyways, I don't thing they are all that bad. DH may look for something else after a year because the pay isn't the greatest. He has miles, we get paid. I have heard far worse stories from other people.

I've got 5.83 acres there in Golden Gate Estates myself! :biggrin_25522: Can't give it away!

AFA Western Express they weren't hiring CDL grads when I called. I start school tomorrow. I can throw a rock from the school and hit their yard. My teacher said they will hire from him. My school is 2 months 5 days a week. Not a CDL mill.

I talked to one of their drivers when I was getting my learner permit. He was running dedicated, 4 days a week and bringing home some decent coin.

I am going to apply there.
