Adding a tandem

    I got a single axle and in Cali being 18 and getting my license I can't pull doubles so I wanna make the truck a tandem I found a place where I can buy tandem cutoffs and was wondering how I could make the truck a tandem. Could I just cut the single off and weld the new one on and strengthen it kinda like stretching a truck

    yes you can do that just make sure the frame for the cutoff has the same dimensions

    Mesure TWICE! Cut and weld ONCE! It's a pretty straight forward project and is pretty simple really. The measuring, cutting, grinding, drilling and welding can be done in about a day and then it's a matter of getting the air and electrical hooked up.
    Mitre cut the rails and match them up perfectly straight and then you will want to sleeve the frame where you join it for strength, I always do.
    With the right tools and a competent helper the whole thing shouldn't take more than a couple or three days start to finish!

    I have extended a couple if wheel bases over the years and turnes one two axle into a three axle.

    I love doing that kind of stuff!
