thanks, that makes a ton of sense. (and I was beat down last night when I made the post, had I thought a little more..........)
That would be pretty stupid to set 'em up to run at 65 and then limit them to 55. -
The T2000 and it's Peterbilt twin are not very good trucks in the long run...They're not as junky as Junkliners but they are definetly the bottom of the barrel for PACCAR.
But seriously man, If you can't seal up the ###### windshield yourself you ought to find another profession!Working Class Patriot and Big Duker Thank this. -
Amazing what you can seal with a tube of clear silicone.
-
There is plenty to be unhappy with on the T2000 but out of warranty is out of warranty doesn't matter what you drive or who you are you'd get the same treatment from every brand.
Truck makers aren't in the business of maintaining garage queens. -
That is why I have my own guy that covers the truck after the warranty is up. Good deals, Good work and I can assist whenever I want or else I wouldn't hire him.
-
I would use windshield sealant.
If you have a steel cab silicone will cause it to rust. I know that from first hand, windshield guy told me that.
It may cause aluminum to corrode.
Why are you guys busting my chops about the T-2000? Not my truck! I'm just a student. IMO a truck with that few miles? It's a shame to pay $120K on a POS. -
Hmmm? I have done 2 one with the overpriced wind shield sealant at truck stop and the other w/clear silicone. Have not noticed any rust as of yet. The bosses is the one that I used the silicone on so I will check again and see if I can spot any rust. neither have leaked. Thanks for tip.
-
The guy that was installing my windshield in a van told me that even the "pure silicone" has water in it. I had patched a leak with it, it leaked again. He said the extra windshield goop might have to look ugly. It didn't.
Maybe you can get the windshield stuff cheaper at Vatozone? -
Freightliner of Tucson did not find the problem and so FYDA of Columbus paid Tucson for their time to release my truck so I could bring it to Columbus. I brought it to Columbus and let it sit in their shop for 7 days. They found a 16 volt instantaneous voltage spike while connected to shore power and replaced the alternator and all of the dash switches. That is a start. I drove the truck 500 miles and nothing seemed out of place.
I parked the truck overnight and plugged the truck into shore power and when I went to start the truck the next morning, the cruise control switch light was out. This is the same thing that Tucson reported happened to the OPT switches. They plugged it into shore power overnight and the next morning 2 OPT lights were out. I am having to play electrical engineer here because this issue is showing up one second and is gone the next.
I am having the company that installed the charger/inverter either replace the inverter or test and inspect it. Whichever they will do, however I have been doing some research on this issue on-line and am seeing that a bad ground can cause this type of problem. It seems to me that regardless of where the power is coming from to charge the batteries, be it the shore power, generator, or alternator, there should be some type of regulation prior to the power reaching the switch lights. I have asked Freightliner about this and they say that there is nothing to regulate the power to the switches.
I am really trying to avoid any more complications despite my anger at Freightliner here and I believe that I have shown more patience than most other people would as I have taken several weeks off of my normal route, stayed in hotels, eaten out at restaurants, had rental cars. All of this to facilitate Freightliner of Columbus in their effort to fix my truck and so far they have not. As far as I am concerned they can replace the entire electrical system on this truck. It doesn't work and it has been this way since it was brand new.
At the very least I hope that anyone else having these sorts of problems will benefit from this thread.
