Any local CDL A training companies near Pittsburgh, PA? I've had my Class B for 2 years now and I'm ready to get my Class A. I don't want to go OTR, and I prefer to stay local / with a local company.

Since you already have a Class-B, maybe A. Duie Pyle will work with you.
Contact and tell someone there you have the Class-B and want to upgrade and then run local around Pittsburgh.

Check with Roehl Transport.
Maybe has a dedicated Walmart or Target account in PA.
Also has their own cdl training. -
Any luck yet?

YRC freight said I'd have to travel to carlisle, pa, which is 3 hours from where Im at.
Roehl is always a option but I don't want to go OTR (I got a 3 month daughter and I don't want to miss alot of time).
I've talked to schools (one would finance it and make me pay it back) but it's a 6 month course for a class A....
That's way too long (especially when I'm already experienced).
Another problem is the pay. Class A local drivers make around the same as Class B (some make alittle more but it's more hours).
The only good local Class A jobs with better pay are hazmat fuel trucks (local gas station account) which is what I ultimately wanted to do.
The bottom line =
Is it worth wasting weeks away from home making less than I made at my previous job (over 1k gross per week)? Is it worth being in debt?
Since no local companies will train me and all the "driver trainee" day cab programs are 3+ hours away (all near philly for some reason), I'm going to wait on unemployment (and back pay) and I'll pay for my own cdl program (2500 cash down and finance the other 2500). -
Paying for private school is probably your best option.
Can also check with Roehl, Knight, Swift and ask about dedicated Walmart or Target accounts close to you. Those accounts are basically local and most are home every day.
Still though, I'd go the private school route if possible. Then you can go straight from school graduation to local work.
Get all the endorsements before graduating.
