Anybody ever do this as a company driver? I have an interesting offer with full benefits from a respected medium sized carrier doing 4 on 4 off regional dry van rarely over 250 miles from the terminal. It sounds really nice just wanted to hear from those who’ve been around what they think of this.

4 Days On, 4 Days Off Schedule
Dot offers a variety of scheduling options outside of a “traditional” schedule. The four days on, four days off schedule is exactly what it sounds like—you get four days on the road and then four days at home. The best part about this schedule is that you will know which days you are working and which days you will be home for the entire year!

I run 4 on/4 off. Personally I love it, but if you are someone that is regimented having a certain day(s) off every week or a family gatherings schedule, such as holiday dinners and the like it may not be your thing.

When your 4 on cycle comes up you work, doesn't matter whay day it is, at least at my company.

Also, it will be a cut in pay, but you only work 6 months a year.

If you can live on a part time paycheck then go for it. I did that for 8 months except it was 7 on 7 off. The biggest problem was slip seating and always having to clean all my stuff out and then when I returned I would get a filthy stinky truck and sometimes their wouldn't be a truck available.

I'm familiar with it,,local fuel hauler has many drivers on it. Being a 7 day a week operation it was easiest to manage drivers. 4 days a week is plenty IMO

Thanks for the replies everyone. I think the schedule will suit me, the pay should be plenty enough for me considering the insurance and 401k they offer. I know slip seating isn’t the best but I travel light and there are chances I can park at home during my 4 on since it is regional depending on where it’s going.

I do a 4 on 3 off schedule and love it. The main problem I see with the 4 on 4 off is stuff like scheduling your dental cleaning 6 months from now. Gotta figure out what days you actually have off. Other than that, assuming the pay is good, I'd jump at it.

My last gig was 4 on, 4 off, then we changed it to 6 on, 6 off. It was pretty nice having 6 days off. only downside was dragging all my junk back and forth.

One guy had a satellite tv set up he would bring along so he could watch nascar lol -

Sounds like a good gig , I would like to find a 2 week out / 2 week off type deal , that way you only share a truck with one person . Or go in with an owner operator split everything 50/50 and do the 2weel on and off .
