only people that used that are class 7 and below and the Military. The reason it it won't hold up pulling 80,000 lb doing 70 mph for1,000,000 miles.... case in point the military use 6 speed Allison, can't go faster than 60 mph (would blow the engine) need to be replaced abfor 200,000 miles
And per Allison they at this time just started making the TC10 for class 8 (not available yet) and it's for SHORT haul only... so NO you can't even order a Allison for a class 8 otr truck..

The article is only 5 years old. I agree its not for Heavy applications.
All that asside.......there are tons of class 8 trucks rolling with Allison 4500. MX power and the 4500 is a awesome combo IMO and puts an Ultrashit plus to shame.

Hulld, spsauerland and QUALITYTRUCK Thank this. -
I do work on a fleet of 12 gravel hauling 2012 KW T660 that have Allison 4500 in them. Pretty bulletproof except for wiring issues.(Michigan salt/snow)
Hulld, spsauerland and Goodysnap Thank this. -
Still only a 6 speed... so it would like sheet at 70,000 and pulling a hill
-
If you have the same problem with both the fix WILL NOT be the same.. -
I know plenty running Allison 4500RDS hauling 90,000 day in, day out.
-
Ended up buying the truck from them as a scrap truck. Thanks all
