So I have a problem. I greased the S Cam tubes until a little bit of grease came out between the slack adjuster and the tube.

On one axle, on both sides, I had grease coming out of the S Cam side causing a huge problem.

Isn't the S Cam side sealed or supposed to be? Maybe the idiot who put it together didn't put the seals in properly?

Or did I just go crazy with the grease gun?

    Thank you

I had a huge problem with it coming out on the S Cam side. Did I just go crazy with the grease gun or are the seals not working properly or not even installed?

I've always thought the orientation of the seals on the s cam bushings were sorta silly, the lip should be facing away from the bushing on the slack side to allow the grease to escape somewhere inconsequential when the bushing is full. the way they both lay to the inside toward the bushing just begs them to be pushed outwards and not seal at all after you overfill them just once.

    Nostalgic Thanks this.

I think that I just went crazy with the grease gun. I had 2 on the tractor and 2 on the trailer that leaked out on the S Cam side. It wasn't a ton of grease but enough to make a mess.

I'm just wondering now how I should grease them in the future.

I used to just give them a bunch of pumps and call it good.

I just don't want it to happen again and I'm glad that I caught it before DOT did.

It pays to crawl under your equipment sometimes!
