Now see, my engine use to look identical to your engine.
Tag on my block says it’s a 1986 315 horsepower engine, but it’s far from it now. That’s the importance of knowing for sure what you have.....

Yes I would love to know exactly what I have
Shawn2130 and OLDSKOOLERnWV Thank this. -
I was thinking the same thing

It the tag on the left front of the block is missing, Then the serial number on the block, and the pump code on the of the pump will give us a better idea of what you have..... -
Pump tag circled in red....
not always easy to clean but will take a lot of guess work out.
Shawn2130 Thanks this. -
The one that @OLDSKOOLERnWV showed you will work for the manifold pressure gauge. This port was used on this one. I plugged it fo keep the mud wasps out of it. The whole bottom of the after cooler is open the PT pump afc port and intake for the air compressor is all right there together.Shawn2130 and OLDSKOOLERnWV Thank this. -
Some pics of the Holset on this engine. No idea if it is the stock setup or later replacement upgrade. It was a Formula 350 which means its governed at 1900 rpm instead of 2100 rpm. It also has its max torque a couple hundred rpm lower than regular 350. This thing had some fire done to it. And it was a runner. The pump was WAY To hot for a driver that leaned on it to hard with it’s #7 button. Melted down and locked up # 5 per the burnt hot spot on the side of the block in the aftercooler pic above.

Look in this spot for the engine serial #. It would match what was on the front tag. This will tell you what the factory rating was and when it was assembled.
It will also match the pump code if the pump was set for the original factory rating. If the pump was set for who knows what it will not match up. In that case the pump code is the only clue as to its power rating.
Should be a series of numbers that look like thisShawn2130, n4ane and OLDSKOOLERnWV Thank this. -
I will look when I get home got to do a oil change on it that looks to be the back of the motor is that correct?
-
Yes. Back driver side. Some are easy to get to some are not. Depending on the style of truck it is in I’ve seen them buried in a firewall or covered up by a bracket or other junk.
95% of the Cummins tags are missing off of the front housings it seems. Lol!
