You can go to the license branch and have a "K" restriction put on your CDL.. you keep the CDL, but are not medically cleared to drive. Many drivers who want to keep their CDL but do not want the expense or problems of needing a med card do that to keep expirations from messing them up.

Not as much the medical card... the state will cancel your CDL without any response.

Since a broken foot is an obviously temporary problem I really can't see it being an issue. What I would do though is call the office you would go to to get the physical on Monday and ask. That way you know and know what will be required. You might need something from your doctor stating it's not a permanent injury or something like that.

Either way, after you call Monday please let us know for future reference.

I'm retired now but still have my CDL, in fact I recently renewed it. Go to your DMV and tell them you want to change your self certification, to either "Excepted Interstate" or "Excepted Intrastate". Then when you are ready to go back to work, get a new physical and go back in with your long form and re Self Certify. Piece of cake.

Usually yes. Right now with all the offices closed it's a 2 month wait at the local offices to get in and make changes. By that time he will be healed most likely.

I guess I'm not used to the big city problems these days. Here we walk into the office, do our business and leave, usually without having to wait.

That's the way it was before covid yes. Now with all the paranoia going on, it's a nightmare to get anything official done.

Check this guy out. He has no arms and is a farmer and hauls his own loads to the silos. He has to do everything with his feet.
