Has anyone dealt with any of the CB shops to set SWR's? I am getting back in the CB radio world after taking a long break away from it. I have a Magnum S-9 and a Wilson 5000 magnetic mount antenna I don't have a SWR meter to do it myself. I live a hour south of Jackson, GA there is suppose to be a new CB shop that moved in to the old location of a prior CB radio shop. The place is called Death Row CB Radio Shop located at the Love's Travel Plaza I google searched this place it has 5 1/2 stars out of 18 reviews people have left. I tried calling them nobody has answered as of yet.

There is a few others north of me one is called Sonrise CB shop over in Carnesville, GA and other places like D-Rails, Wolfman CB shop. I never been to none of these so I am not sure who to trust with setting the SWR's.

generally there's nothing to setting SWR...Just hook up a external SWR meter between the radio and antenna...then adjust the stinger up and down till you find the lowest SWR...Sometimes with magnet mounted antennas, if you don't get a low enough SWR reading where you have the antenna, try moving the antenna to a different spot and adjust the stinger...not rocket science...

My Wilson 1000 mag mount took no adjusting at all. It came from the factory at 62 inches, and the SWR was great. A $25 SWR meter and a 5-minute test told me that. Subsequent performance proved it.

I'd recommend all CB owners buy an SWR meter. An antenna should be checked when initially installed to make sure it's in spec, and adjusted if it's not. Then, as time goes on, the antenna again should be checked occasionally to make sure something hasn't gone wrong causing the SWR to get out of range, such as can happen with a crimped coax, etc. That inexpensive meter is as valuable to a CB owner as a tire gauge to a driver.

To be honest I had a great dealing with D-Rail, his brother and his antenna guy (Wolfman CB Shop in Carnesville, GA) when I was there last month. There's a new CB shop opened up in Cordele, GA that is supposedly ran by the father and son that use to work at Death Row CB Shop in Jackson, GA.

Finally got a chance to take my radio to D-Rail and get it tuned ,
Made a trip from GA to Ohio and got a couple of comments that it was the clearest CB radio they have ever heard
