To start... I know they have a terrible reputation.

I have 1 year flatbedding (mostly northeast, with some longer running)
    1 year log hauling
    6 months live floor

I want to try pulling a dry van

I want to be home weekly if possible... Bi weekly at minimum

Most van companies seem to want otr van experience, or long times out.

Western is fine with my experience and has home weekly regional work...

Has ANYBODY on here had a reasonable experience with western express? Any other suggestions? Should I run away from them or take the crap work to get the experience I need?

I live in northern Maine so my options seem limited... I don't want a local job, I want to stretch my legs a bit with a week or so out at a time, and I specifically want dry van or reefer.

Go to Dysarts! WE is forced dispatch. Plus those of us in Maine treat residents better.

You will be running water loads. They are heavy.
As much as they promised and claimed, your going to have to keep on top of your DM to get you in on your agreed schedule.

Britton transport, out of Grand Forks, ND has a Northeast region van/reefer division. I don't know the details but am pretty sure they are off weekends. I can guarantee they are better than Western Express. Check out Brittontransport.com. Best wishes to you!

There's a company in Hermon that hauls medical supplies. Drivers are provided with shirts and jackets.

As long as he doesn't decide to go barreling down a mountain at 75mph who cares about the weight of the load as a company driver?
