What could it be?

2004 western star 4900 c15 just has a bolt that is used to tighten it but that broke.
-
So I just un-bolt the bracket and lift it up to tighten.
-
I get up to the motor and it sounds fine.

You sure there isn't a tensioner pulley on the passenger side of the truck? Last MBN I worked on had a tensioner pulley there. you had to loosen off the bolts and then slip a 1/2" drive ratchet into the square in the tensioner plate in order to tighten the belts.
bzinger Thanks this. -
