Was doing the company driver for 90 days and then lease but this is why I left. Trucks are governed, can't fuel on Fridays, and you can only fuel at Pilot and Flying J. They wouldn't let me take the plastic off the new mattress so I was very uncomfortable. The ac in the truck didn't work at idle. These are the reasons I left within a week. Wish I could give more info but I decided to go back to a flatbed company that was good to me and LP my 389. Merdzic made me realize how good I had it before.
The owners did seem nice there but who wants to be miserable in a truck.

My name is Ruben Zamora. I worked for Merdzic transport 2 weeks. They fired me for late delivery, I'm payed by the mile and they said they didn't get payed so I cant be payed. Medina in dispatch told me forget doing logs just get to my appointment. And Dino just hangs up on me. Medina is not very pleasant and Dino is acting childish. My $$ was not loaded on my payroll card friday 03/20/20. This is a bad time with the Corona Virus. This Bowling Green Ky. Company is no good and is not worthy of having there doors open. Any Ideas How I Can Get My Money.....

I have an idea how to get your money. First thing, stay at a job longer than 2 weeks. If you got fired for being late, thats on you. It's not this company thats the problem, you're the problem. Do you feel Merdzic should cover the bill for your drugscreen, orientation cost, background checks? You put Merdzic out of money so they returned the favor. Quit whining, get your act together, start taking responsibility, learn to be dependable, loyal and a team player, and maby you'll go farther in life. I don't work for Merdzic, but am looking into them and a few other places for new employment. Lot of wanna be truckers can't hack the road and want to blame it all on the company when 99.9% of the time its Driver. They see all these ads about how much money you can make but don't realize that trucking is a lifestyle not a job, so they fail at no fault of their own in their eyes.

    Sounds like another winning employer.
If I chose to work FOR someone I would not incur ANY out of pocket expenses that should be an employer's cost. I especially frown upon any company's insistence on a escrow agreement.

First off the cost you speak of is the price of doing business. If the driver was late due to his or her own fault than yeah that's on them. But to fire a driver for being late one time is ########, their must be more to it. I got a question for you. If your part of the 0.1% that is loyal, a team player, and dependable why are you looking for another job? I could be wrong but to me your trying to make it out like all the trucking companies are good straight up places to work. Some are a lot are not. If you really think the trucking industry isn't a cut throat industry you haven't been at this very long. Next time how about getting more facts before you get on your high horse. Have a nice day....

This may be late, but may help someone else. After 5 OTR companies & 25 yrs OTR & 3 as a local.
I was never charged with late loads ever, but then again I required documentation on DP's I could not make on time to cover myself or ran them using creative means I learned over the yrs..
He has no understanding on what an employee is. A company does not choose if & when to pay a driver, those are governed under employment laws.
Yes be dependable, but loyal & a team player? Hell no! You are a piece rate driver who is not on a clock so being a team player almost never benefits you & usually just benefits the company. You do not have co-workers as an OTR driver, only competitiors for miles & money.
You can treat OTR like a lifestyle & not sweat the small stuff or you can take care of numero uno & not let them screw you because they will if you let them.
A clean CDL is all you need so 1 day or 10 yrs it does not matter. I run loads & you don't pay me as an employee? I'm done with you & I file a wage claim. I am 4-0 on wage claims with OTR & local companies.
One thing you will fail at if you treat OTR as a lifestyle & thats getting paid what you are owed. Despite the slick talk most OTR companies will throw you under the bus & don't care about anything except how cheaply they can get you to drive from point A to B.
Work smart not hard & let dudes like this be loyal & a team player & not get paid for work done.
The chargebacks are not the cost of doing business. They are tax deductions as well as the money spent getting to orientation. In my state they even have to pay you minimum wage 4 all hrs in orientation . So know your local labor rules.
You think a OTR company's deserves loyalty & cares about you? OTR companies could afford to pay you double what they do but then they would have to run efficient & reduce capacity. Instead they run a bigger fleet & pay peanuts compared to hourly drivers working the same hrs. My company pays me $1.02 per mile avg as a hourly employee. What OTR paying 45 or 50 cpm.? LOL they're all crooks with their name & not a number be treated like family BS
