I have many friends working for small to mid size smart companies owned by Polish or Russians. They make 2000-2300 a week as a driver easy 3k miles, 70c a mile. They cut corners everywhere, combining loads doing stuff u never heard off but ..these days u cannot make a living going straight. Politicians took over everything. . They have 10-15yrs of experience. That’s the standard for somebody qualified. If you make less than that your employer is robbing u. plain simple. I have absolutely no chance speaking with those companies. They need good experienced people. Megacarriers pay half of that that’s why they still need fresh blood. I could find something even part time just a matter of time. U go to swifts, werners cfi and other jokes just to gain experience and get the hell out of there after a year…

For someone with no direct experience in the industry you sure do seem to have it all figured out. I will say i believe you'll be hard pressed to find what youre looking for. Good luck

The track record of these companies you speak of, is not very good. The corners they cut usually involve operating legalities, poor equipment maintenance, as well as paying mostly on a 1099.
And as far as working part time, if you work another job and hope to drive a drive on your off days, you know you have to include all hours worked in your Hours of Service totals. Your regular job hours are included in your 70 hours in 8 day total. You can't drive after 70 total hours until you get a reset or at least get enough recap hours back to do you any good.

No offense, but you honestly don't know what's going on out there in the industry at large.

I'm not one to brag about anything, but I made enough money that it made my hair stand up on my arms this week.

There's money out here. A lot of it. Just not in the beginning, and not at the bottom of the industry.

Your only chance of employment is with one of the yard jockey companies, and they might want at least three months experience.
