So I gave notice that I needed to turn truck in on certain day to start my next move. Now as I sit empty over holidays am being told that they have no loads going back to terminal area by the day I told them would be my last. Any ideas or thoughts on how to handle that situation?

If it's cutting close to your last day just simply tell them you're bringing it in. If you've found another job already what does it matter.

Where are you and where is the terminal you want to end up in? Are there other terminals or drop lots for your company nearby? Which company is this?

I’m in Oklahoma on home time, but terminal is in Gary Indiana and that’s the only terminal. I’d rather not throw name out there they have been a pretty good place to work up until this.

One week, two week notice? Good enough, don’t waste your time. My concern would be the same as always. Getting the pay they owe me. I’ve taken time off, gotten my pay, then quit. Depends on their common practices. They get what they deserve. All you really have to do, is turn in the Truck. Take a week off, if you have to. Get organized, start fresh on new job. Don’t look back.

Considering they’ve been good in the past, I’d try to stress the issue. Still you shouldn’t let them hold you back. No employer should do that. Shows a total lack of respect. A good employer will wish you luck, and tell you your welcome back. I’ve had a lot of jobs. Never regretted quitting any of them. Only regret staying longer than planned.

Gave a week and half notice that I needed to be in yard on Tuesday cause I’m starting new gig on Wednesday now I’m getting run around on getting a load back and pretty sure they aren’t gonna want me dead heading 800 miles on Monday

If you're on home time, that makes it easier. You told them when your last day of work is, so first thing Monday you tell them point blank they've got the morning to figure out the plan or they can recover the truck.
