Passed the post-offer physical today. It was pretty basic and easy. They take your BP a few times, and have you do about 6 different tasks and take your HR after each task. Tasks were things like keeling down on each knee, squats w/o weight, carrying weight across the room and back, picking up weight from floor to waist, lifting weight from waist to shoulders, and pushing/pulling weight across the room and back.Digman943, McUzi and Speed_Drums Thank this.

First day is a wrap. It was great. We worked about 10.5 hrs doing P&D. Mostly in town but 2 pick-ups about an hour out. Everyone at my barn is really nice, and some have been doing this for quite a while and know their stuff. The fella training me is great. I think we did about 16-20 deliveries and 5 pick-ups. I feel blessed to be in this game.

Impressive first day numbers. I'm assuming the bulk were in an industrial park? Either way, glad to see you're enjoying your break in period. Far better than ending up with a miserable ####### who hates his job AND is in charge of training the new guy.HiramKingWilliams, dwells40, MACK E-6 and 1 other person Thank this.

Gravy day...
Couple that with 300+ miles on the odometer and then you'll know you did something.

Lots of stops were very close to each other. But we were all over the place, including a few in a town an hour away. Mostly businesses with a few residentials mixed in.
Tuesday’s numbers were about the same. Made a trek an hour away to drop doubles at a Target DC and pick up empty doubles with a few returns in one.
Today was split with the same trainer as M/T, with a different trainer for 1/2 the day. He’s just as great as the first. Both are kind, helpful, and very knowledgeable. We did about 16 or so deliveries and about 8-10 pick-ups. We did a full trailer of pick-ups. We were all over the place in town and up to about an hour out. I think I was on duty around 11.5 hours. Not lift gates today, just docks and forklifts.
Good stuff.McUzi, Cardfan89, The Shadow and 1 other person Thank this. -
Week one is a wrap. Over 50 hours, with O/T after 8/40. I gotta say, other than a few bonehead mistakes I made, and a few damaged deliveries (not from me/my trainer), this first week was excellent and a lot of fun. Hard/fast work but I really dig it. The equipment is good, my coworkers are great, my manager is great, and there’s plenty of work.
I really kicked myself in the ### at the end of today. After running routes for about 9 hrs, I had to move trailers in the yard for about an hour. After dropping a trailer at a dock door, I pulled out and forgot to raise the bags back up. So when I went to back into the next trailer in the yard, I was way too low. I overshot the kingpin, which landed in front of the skid plate. So I had to get an “old-timer” to hold the skid plat down while I pulled forward. These are the types of mistakes I want to make though, where nothing is broken and no one is hurt.
Hats off to the guys that have been doing this for 30 yrs, help a noob like me, and are extremely helpful and nice about it. Seriously.
9 out of 10 receivers I’ve encountered are great people. I truly feel blessed to be a part of this brotherhood..Cardfan89, MACK E-6, jmz and 1 other person Thank this. -
Most receivers in this sector of the industry will be of a different class of people. They usually need their stuff yesterday and will gladly accept it from whoever brings it.
That's as opposed to something like the reefer world where people who see a truck show up all scatter like ####roaches because that might mean they have to work.

Anyone know how long you have to work for XPO before you can transfer to a different service center?
