An O/O leased to a company uses the companies insurance, tags, etc. and only pulls loads for that company.

An O/O pulling for brokers typically is an independant with his own tags and insurance, etc. and can pull for who ever has freight that needs to be pulled.

There are several variations of each set up. This is just a basic explanation.

And most companys charge you back for tags and ins sooooo there not alot of diff between an independant using broker and and lease on cuz you pay mostly the same either way .

Contrary to what's been posted there is a lot of difference. If you pull for a broker yo have to have your own authority. That entails having your own liability ins.,cargo ins.,etc. You have to have your own company basicc=ally. You also will not get paid every week with a broker. Some offer "quick pay" for a certain percentage of the load. If you are just starting out, lease to a company and get to know what areas to run where the freight is good, etc.

Off of this board, one good example of running for a broker is PharmPhail's thread instand owner operator and load boards. He got his own authority and insurance and the whole nine yards but signed on to haul with a broker(Eclipse). He provides the truck, insurance, authority and everything that goes along with it but they provide the loads/freight. he can haul when he wants or stay home when he wants. All they provide is the loads or loads and a trailer for an extra fee and if he chooses to not run for them he can get a trailer of his own and hop on load boards and book his own loads and control every sapect on his own. On other threads you can follow drivers who own their truck and all of the basics but signed on to a company and run under the companies authority. They haul only what the company provides and do not have their own authorty which means they can not go out and haul their own stuff when things get slow. Both have very different advantages and dis advantages.

I don't know about the good one but there are so many factors by which we come to know that which is the best broker ? For that we focus on such aspects as
    1. Reputation in the financial market.
    2. Facilities provided like daily updates, recommendations, mobile trading, pone trading etc.
    3. Customer care support
    4. User friendly platform etc.
