Your gonna have a hard time making 2 pickups and 2 deliveries in a day around the city during normal flatbed hours........ it can be done but it ain’t easy....

you can run 4.10 rear gears with 24.5 tall rubber, the old timers swear by them. Especially around the city , it’s not like your gonna be doing 75mph all day long......

Make sure your detention time is in black and white before you agree to anything.
Get ready to hear some new excuses
We load and unload our own trucks first
Their are 5 trucks in front of you
We did not order the crane because we did not know when you would be here
    Our forklift is being serviced
We only unload until 3 pm
Closed for lunch 11:30 till 1:00
Your not supposed to be here until tomorrow and my favorite one
Appointments must be made 24 hours in advance. No exceptions.
    Good Luck !!

deliver in the am, reload and unload the next one, preload for the next am. That will likely be a full day. After you figure actual expenses youll need to be getting more than 2@$400 to profit running back n forth across the hudson.

This is exactly what I was thinking...

I figure most of these places open late, so it makes sense to have a load already on the truck with some drive time left for the delivery if I'm starting at 4am to 5am.

Right now I'm guessing that load/unload times including strapping tarping and paperwork be 30 minutes each for a total of 1 hour loading/unloading.

I have a feeling I'm being too optimistic. Maybe an hour to load and another hour to unload for a total of two hours is more realistic?

(The poster above makes some good points regarding unexpected delays, which I have to take into consideration, but let's say normal operations on average...)

The board is filled with these $400 loads that sometimes even incur $100+ tolls...if I add in long load/unload times, they are not worth it.

Planning on one hour for arrival, load, strap, tarp and get paperwork is optimistic indeed. A lot of places you’ll be lucky to get in and out of an hour and 20 to an hour and a half if you do not have to tarp.
And bigger places figure a couple hours
