I do. And if it needs calibrated i do so. They explained in orientation how to do it and that we were supposed to notate the date and weight on the sticker inside the cover. Although i don't think most drivers even bother. I realize we get reimbursed for cat scales, but if more drivers would stay on top of calibrating trailer gauges maybe we all wouldn't have to pay an wait for our money back for cat scales so often.

Also a lot of drivers just rely on their tractor gauge once they get it calibrated they get their load according to the or I should say close to 34,000 as possible on the drive and then do the math cuz they know what they carry on the steers add your empty weight to the bill weight subtract the steers then what's on your drive gauge and see that they think they're okay cuz of the math and Just Go With It. Problem with that is the shippers not always right about what they've got on there for the bill weight and then therefore if they're wrong about the weight that's on the bill of lading you could end up over on your trailer axle and not know it or over gross and not know it.

Do ya scale all your loads 40k an up then? Or do ya just rely on your tractor guage?

When I get the truck washed at Blue Beacon I have them dress the tires at the locations that do it. In the winter time a lot of Blue Beacon locations don't do the tire dressing. I bought some cheap tire dressing before at the Oak Grove Petro or the Joplin Petro I can't remember which it was like I don't know seven bucks Maybe but it didn't work very well I wasn't happy with the product. The stuff I bought last night is the wab brand and it was $15 but it's a big bottle. And yes I drive a company truck but I take pride in my ride and I keep my rims polished and I dress my trim and my tires because I'm the one that has to drive up and down the highway all week and I don't like driving around in something that looks trashy. So I take care of my company trucks the way I would my own or my personal vehicles.

I do particularly on loads that are heavier. I've had to recalibrate a couple of trailers but I always forget to write it down. I am more reliant on the gauge in the truck though. I try to split the overall load weight evenly but here lately I've been getting loads that are more front loaded.
