    2013 Peterbilt 587 Last 8 vin# 185213 / PACCAR motor

My company bought 4 of these in 2013, all with PACCAR motors and a few years later after I came back to work for them these 4 trucks have been deleted. That's just for history info. 3yrs ago I came back to work for them I was driving one of them, I call it #1. It had around 850,000 miles on it. While going down the road and I'd give it more acceleration the motor would start vibrating badly. I'd let off the acceleration and it would quit. Then back on acceleration and it'd be worse. I'd lightly start accelerating and maybe it be smooth.

Motor goes bad on the truck so they put a motor out of the wrecked #4 truck in it. Same issue but then it started having more and worse issues so they put me into the #2 truck.

#2 truck has around 950,000 miles on it and at first everything is fine except it has no power then a few months ago it started doing the same thing with that bad accelerating vibration.

Now I'm in #3 truck with 710,000 miles and it does this the worst.

All 3 rucks and 4 motors will be full of codes and not the first code is more consistent than any others.

Any ideas that I can pass along to our baffled shop mechanics would be appreciated, thanks

It follows engine speed or road speed? Bad injectors can cause a "shudder" when accelerating.
Deletes done by unintelligent people cause large amounts of false codes and generally poor performance.
Does it do it in every gear? Coasting and driving with the cruise on is it ok?

    spsauerland and Jdwilbourn1969 Thank this.

It'll do it in 7th thru 10th but not always. It will do it with or without cruise on. Fuel injectors were the first thing they thought of and all where replaced in #2 truck and no improvement.
Intelligence?? Well....if there were any they'd be somewhere else making better money lol! No no I'm just kiddin, they're a good group of guys, they're just at a loss of what else it could be.

Vibrations are hard to explain to another person as most people describe them differently. It just as easily could be an driveline problem as it could be an engine problem.

The unintelligent people comment referred to the people making the engine program, not your mechanics.

If you think it is an engine issue, I would check low side fuel pressure, there is a regulator valve by the air compressor that fractures and can cause issues. I would check for air in the fuel supply AND return. If the truck has a fuel blend valve it will suck the aerated return fuel back into the intake, however most times it kills the motor or has a long crank time. This engine has 6 fuel pumps, you can feel the supply line on each to verify they all have a decent pulse, if the pump dies it will be very very weak or non existent. Might as well check engine power supply/ batt connections/ starter connections.

Also would hurt to check driveline angles or at minimum check ride height.

A friend of mine has a 13 T660 with missing on grades after changing gears, bubbles were seen in the water separator bowl, wondering what could be the issue.
