it was either half of 03 and all of 04 or half of 04 and all of 03. I always forget that. it's an attempt at emmisions but it is a single turbo motor. they have cataltic converters and some really goofy timing programed into them. I've never seen one get more then 5.5mpg.
the thing is though it's actually a better motor then the twin turbo accerts. All you have to do is yank the converters out, swap the ecm with an older one (I forget the model number) and you have converted it back to a pre emission C15 cat. just that some people don't want to mess with swapping the ECM and what not I guess.

550hpW900l has an MBN and last year he putdown 888hp to the ground. that's like 1400hp at the flywheel. so the motor is a good motor, just have to loose the emission ####

When I bought my International, it was a fleet truck, and there were about 40 or more on the lot just alike. I spent two days driving trucks after I weeded out the ones I wouldn't drive. My salesman was real nice. All the trucks were keyed alike, so he handed me a tag and told me to tell him when I found one I wanted.

One of the other salesmen wanted to know why I was driving all those trucks when they were all just alike. After I explained how much the difference between two identical trucks can be, he had a whole new understanding of why I was being picky. He honestly thought they would all be the same.

Now, a response to a post a few pages back. The company leases the truck for two reasons. The main one is if they sell you the truck, they have to go through all kinds of hoops in order to reposess it if you miss several payments. If you lease it, the truck is still theirs until paid off. If you miss a payment by 10 minutes, they have the right to come get it right then. There are tax advantages to them also in a lease.

even though the salesman I had there was really cool he was the only one there. He told me to leave the hoods open on the ones I wanted to drive. he had to ride with me. When he walked out and saw about a dozen hoods open I thought he would strangle me. lol

I will take this post as a serious one, since it was for the most part. First of all I do take all the "sources" input into my researching of becoming an Independent Owner Operator. I understand the reality of this business, what it all comes down to is basic math. If your low figures #'s don't look right, walk away. I'm still looking good with low figure #'s. I see the #'s coming up soon, I really do. The recession weeded out a lot of piss poor small trucking companies into bankruptcy. Guess what, things are coming back if you believe it or not. The amount of loads will significantly increase, and the # of available trucks and trailers is much less than it was this time last year. Recessions are actually a good thing. They flush the waste down the pipe in a sense. I have a paid for trailer sitting here waiting for me. A lot of people questioned my decision to buy a trailer first. The beauty of having a trailer in your possession is it that it buys you time. If I was to get a 45k truck first, I'd be hurried to find anybody that would hire me because I have a truck payment coming up quick. I don't have to hurry. I will get a truck I want, and if not, I will sell the trailer and get back most, if not all of my money. The trailer acts as a piece of the puzzle. You need both to make any money as an O/O in my opinion.

Wow, sorry for the long winded rant.
