The boss wont let me run that hard anyway, she has stuff to sniff....

I only had 1 violation and that was the lane violation by the state trooper. The ticket for the restricted route is going to be dismissed in 30 days, God willing.
If a company is going to fire someone for having 1 violation in a year and a half, then they're going to be constantly hiring. But that's their prerogative.
No, I got a violation for that one and that one only. The company is not new and has over 50 trucks. I did notice recently that the weigh stations were pulling me in more often, but like I said, that was a company issue that I wasn't contributing to but for once in over a year.
The sordid thing about all this is the safety manager took my ticket and said he would take care of it via lawyer. I didn't expect that at all and good thing I didn't take him at his word because the deadline for payment or trial came and went with Mr. manager only saying "I'll tell you tomorrow". Good thing I got a hold of the prosecutor myself and I am taking care of it.
Every employer has a right to hire and fire as they please. Personally, I don't care if it's for race, religion, or national origin. My boss was almost literally crying about other drivers that would quit and not give 2 weeks notice. I had been telling my boss since I was hired that I'm close to early retirement and would only work for him for a year or so. It's been over a year and I was still committed to giving him proper notice. Only to get unceremoniously canned and told to clean out the truck the same day. I know that truck sat for another week or so afterwards.
Slime buckets in this industry. You can give 110% every day you drive only to be treated as disposable. I know better and I'm always telling my wife that this industry is feast or famine. One day you're making $1,500-2,000 a week and the next week you're making bubkis. Sometimes I think some of you OGs just kind of kept your heads down and woke up 25 years later still driving, with a balance of regret and gratefulness. But I don't believe for a second that you ever felt 100% secure that you'd be driving and making money from month to month. The difference between having a career in this industry and not is a matter of a fraction of a second reaction or inches, sometimes several times a day.

It use to be a driver could not be a member of the American Chicken Haulers Association if you did LESS THAN 4000 miles!!
And that was without high speed chicken feed!Trucker Nunnery, GoneButNotForgotten and tlalokay Thank this. -
How fast does your cab over go lol
-
I get the impression too that no matter how much a driver tries to make up time with speed, the average is about that- 62 mph, no matter what. Exception is you end up with tickets, "incidents", and lower than average pay.
Better just to take it as it comes and leave the racing to NASCAR.Cattleman84 Thanks this. -
The fastest strongest truck I ever drove was a 1982 Pete cabover. That thing could outrun Jesus.
