In your opinion is it worth the having your own trailer I have drove a lot of different trailers but was thinking of getting a dry van thought it would be easier to get loads maybe better paying loads but I don't know.

You'll have to do your own research. As you already know, there's hundreds of threads on this forum that cover these topics.
There's so many variables, you'll have to make your own decisions moving forward. -
I will add this though, being an independent owner operator is something I love to do. I personally wouldn't have it any other way.
Even if it meant my earnings after all expenses were the same as a decent paying regional company driver in my area of operation.
Everyone else's mileage may vary from mine, but that's okay with me.
Keep on truckin'...clausland, 86scotty, Trenton325 and 1 other person Thank this. -
I think having your own trailer is the way to go. I personally don’t see enough opportunity ($$$$) in pulling someone else’s trailer. I’m sure there are people who would say otherwise as well. You’ll have to figure what’s best for you.
As far as invoicing, most everything is done via email. I have one direct customer that wants the originals mailed in, and most Land Star loads I do need to be mailed in. Don’t understand why in this digital age, but that’s what they want.77fib77, nikmirbre, Scooter Jones and 1 other person Thank this. -
Thank you very much this is helpful.Scooter Jones Thanks this.

It takes a year or so for this to sink in if you've worked for people all your life. Honestly, it's what gets me up in the morning. I agree with Scooter here too, do your own thing. That's the beauty of it.Shanebklyn, Trenton325, nikmirbre and 1 other person Thank this.

Email or through app . I do generate a invoice for my records through Trucklogics an accounting and invoicing online program , its more robust but thats the only features I use .

I can tell you this about being a motor carrier, it is a lot of extra work. You are responsible for maintaining your equipment, all of the the required files, quarterly filings, and every nitpicking compliance regulation out there. That said, there is also the reward of having your independence and doing what YOU want to do rather than what someone else wants you to do. Rates go up, and rates go down, it;s a fact of life that for better or worse you will have to learn to deal with while keeping your head in every market fluctuation that occurs. Take advice only from the successful motor carrier operators on these boards and enjoy your new life of freedom.
Shanebklyn, black_dog106 and 86scotty Thank this. -
