So this was supposed to be my load today, that required 8 foot tarps. 46k. I was told to remain in cab until belly strap time, which I made a huge mistake of not questioning how I was being loaded when it was that time...
So after I was instructed loading was complete I get out to analyze the loading job that appears to have been done by a 10 year old...
Why the overhang and space in the middle considering what the rear looks like? Wouldn't it have made a lot more sense to put the smaller stacks on the bottom, up against each other and then went over the top with the long stacks to make everything squared out? Would have made the load shorter as well.
Obviously cannot get a strap around those smaller bundles on the top. Going over the top of them is only going to hit the outside bundles, I'm not carrying dunnage up on top of the load to put in between the stacks so that the strap would be putting pressure on them. Thats why those should be on the bottom. I slam on the brakes the short top stacks are coming down.
According to shipping supervisor I'm the second guy from my company that has had them unload the trailer because we didn't like the way it was loaded although they load 100 trucks a week just like this. He says their won't be a third time. I got this load from a broker, so not sure if he meant my company or the brokerage regardless, shouldn't that be a clue that things need to be done differently?
The guy loading claims he loads 10 trucks a day just like this? Really???? You got me fooled...
2.5 hours waiting to be loaded.
2.5 hours to get loaded...
Plus still had to secure and tarp, which was gonna be all the padding I got on the truck and a couple hours.
I'm not in the business of arguing with them, the simple solution is just unload my truck. Shipper is telling me I'm getting charged several hundred dollars for them having to unload trailer... Good luck getting any money outta me.![]()

Straps would secure the three smaller bundles on top if that was your main concern.

Really simple.
It is your trailer, and your responsibility to transport the cargo in a safe and secure manner. If they will not allow you to monitor the loading process, then they have nothing to complain about when it does not meet your requirements. And that is really the bottom line.
If the shipping company and loading crew don’t want to rework the load to make it right, then they can take it off and get someone else to do it.
I have rejected loads for things just like this. Take pictures.
Remember these words.
It is my opinion that as the cargo is loaded, it can not be properly and safely secured. I believe it is unsafe for transport.roshea, Sirscrapntruckalot, cke and 16 others Thank this. -
No, needs to be completely re-done. The smaller stacks on back and these could have easily been worked into the bottom eliminating this extra layer.

It's simple. My truck ... My rules. If they don't like they can get their crap off my truck and find someone else to haul it.

5 hours in though and you're just supposed to wait another 2.5+ hrs for them to get it off the trailer and walk away? Then there's the ding on the broker's rep and their possibly not using you any more?
I'm no flatbed trucker, but even I can see when a load is not distributed and stacked properly. It's Tetris for crying out loud.
Walking away is better than losing your load all over the road or having it shift mid-trip and sitting on the side of the road waiting for the cavalry.cke, JonJon78 and Espressolane Thank this. -
Dude #### them. U did the right thing. Load the #### how the driver wants or take it off.. Pisses me off to see stuff like this. If those other 99 out of 100 guys would speak up they would stop loading crap that way, because i know atleast half of them looked at that crap and said to themselves wtf is this? But they dont have a backbone to speak up. Look like u had a rough week , sending some good vibes ur way brother !!!Brettj3876, Sirscrapntruckalot, cke and 13 others Thank this.

Not to mention, u could throw everystrap u got on that stuff and those middle pieces on every bundle are gonna walk right thru the front of ur tarp . The ones on top are not even gonna be secured by the end of the trip.

Hell this is a good example of why I’m thinking about getting out of flatbed, the trucker always gets the #### end of the stick, it’s always the trucker’s fault when things get screwed up, so on and so forth and this is a prime example; dummy forklift operator can’t do his job and instead of the shipping supervisor coming down on the forklift operator he chews out @JonJon78 threatening to take away his business because he’s the 1 or so guys out of the 100 that had the balls to speak up and do his job the right way.roshea, Sirscrapntruckalot, basedinMN_ and 9 others Thank this.
