Hey how is everybody doing. I had a question for y'all I am trying to start my hotshot company and I was wondering what all do I need to do I'm in the process of getting a truck and trailer and I am getting quotes on insurance. I heard from somebody before that I should use Foley services.com for my boc3 number mc dot and all that.

You can do all of that yourself. Join OOIDA and they will help you.

Might want to get them insurance quotes before you buy a truck..
Just grab a vin # off a similar truck you plan on buying to give the agent..

Depending on location, new authority insurance can be close to $40k per yer..

You should do better than $40,000 in GA.
Think a guy from the Bronx was just quoted $39,500 or something ridiculous like that.?

    @24kHotshot
I believe was somewhere around $30k his 1st year out of FL..

How much weight do you plan on tagging your hotshot for.? As in less than 26,001lb or more. That will give us a better idea of what all you need to get going..

    Gotcha.
So yeah, I wouldn't bother paying anyone when you should be able to set yourself up..

Set up sole proprietorship, dba, llc, Inc, something to establish company name.
    Get tax ID #
    File for dot#
MC# if you plan on leaving GA
    Get process agents boc 3
Need insurance for #'s to go active (most brokers require $1millon not the 750k minimum, gonna want some cargo coverage too)
    Acquire truck & trailer
    IRP for apportioned tags
    IFTA for fuel tax
2290 if over 54999lb gross weight
KYU # if over 59999lb gross weight
    NY HUT over 18000lb gross
    NM weight distance tax
OR has a bond (never been)
    Token/Permanent tag for the wagon
    UCR filing
    Join a drug testing consortium
    Sign up for the clearinghouse
Pass a pre employment wiz quiz on yourself
Get ready for new entrant safety audit

That will get you going. I might be missing something. Someone else can add what I may have forgot..? My ol Lady does all the paperwork.. lol

KK63, Mattflat362 and Dennixx Thank this.
