So uh, if you violate hos by let’s say 5 minutes; are ya screwed? I was trying to run out my time and made a wrong turn heading to the truck stop and I had to get back to it LMAO if by some miracle I don’t get hit with a fine I’m never ever doing this in an area I’m not familiar with again

 

In theory, you're fine. An actual logbook was in 15 minute increments, so you used the 7 1/2min mark to round up or down. If you went 5 minutes over, it should round down, not up. Or don't those computer thingys work that way?

 

Most LEO's will give 15-20 min leeway....as long as it doesn't show a continuing pattern. Now your company OTOH....they tend to be more unforgiving. That "building the case to create another open seat" scenario.

They sold me out to the DOT last time when I went over by idk maybe 20 minutes because I ran out of time at the shipper and didn’t know how to use PC correctly and they started taking money out of my checks; after talking to @HillbillyDeluxeTruck it finally donged on me I never even got a citation from an officer
