A former driver recruiter has been indicted by a Federal grand jury on five counts of wire fraud. The recruiter is accused of stealing over $120,000 from two different companies that she worked for.
Michelle Serth-Stein was hired by Midwest Systems as a driver recruiter in October of 2017. While employed there, she allegedly submitted fraudulent invoices directing money to her personal bank account. She is also accused of submitting fake expense reports, getting reimbursed for recruiting expenses she never incurred.
According to the indictment, Serth-Stein used the money for shopping and to pay off personal loans.
Midwest Systems eventually fired her in January of 2019. But she was hired again right away by AA Express. Her new position would be as a recruiter and overseeing driver safety. Before long, prosecutors say that she was again directing funds into her personal bank account.
According to the indictment, Serth-Stein deposited at least one check made out to the business into her own account. She even allegedly made Automated Clearing House (ACH) transfers from the company’s bank account to her own.
By the time she was fired from AA Express in August, Serth-Stein had allegedly stolen a combined $120,804.57 from both companies.
Now facing five counts of wire fraud, each count carries a maximum sentence of up to 20 years in prison and a fine of up to $250,000.

Farva, WildTiger1990, GoneButNotForgotten and 1 other person Thank this. -
she'll probably get something like 5 years, with restitution, and maybe community service.
i just hope, no non-profit organization hires her to handle the monies. -
So AA Express hires her immediately after being fired for embezzling money from Midwest systems. We have to go through big time background checks. Could they have actually hired her without checking with her last place of employment?
Savor the Flavor and D.Tibbitt Thank this. -

We just had a nurse killed here on I-440 on the way to work at Saint Thomas hospital. Some POS named Devaunte Adams shot her 4 times. Her SUV was found on the side of the parkway. This guy shot his grandmother when he was 16 for waking him up, then his 12 year old nephew and 6 year old sister. In 2017 he was charged with armed robbery. In 2019 he was charged with assault but still not in jail. The system is broken.
