Post the last 6 digits of VIN for more accurate information. But understand back light power is coming from the SAM chassis. Troubling shooting manual shows connector X58 cavity 19 as the back up lamp. This not fused but rather logic controlled unfused outputs.
Also, shows X59 cavity 1 as back up switch supply and x59 cavity 3 as backup switch return.Last edited: Dec 15, 2020
Reason for edit: corrected errorRocketyMan, habfleet and QUALITYTRUCK Thank this. -
Vin is #BT3976 I kinda hoping it did not have anything to do with the SAM can't do anything if that is the problem. or trouble shoot

Thank you @habfleet for posting the last 6 of your vin as @SWM_TECH suggested. Hopefully others viewing this will see that the commercial trucking industry is not like the passenger car industry. There are MANY different configurations of trucks Freightliner and others can build to suit...which makes them more or less unique. (Barring not counting LEAD and SISTER trucks built in sequence) But I digress...
Onto your problem: no reverse lights or backup lamps
BOM: 35H
CIRC: 120, 120H,
Here is the general wiring schematic for your truck:
Note that you have an eaton 10 speed specd in your truck. Therefore your trans should look something like this:
Note the dashed circle "A" which corresponds to your two pin reverse lamp switch.
This circuit goes through BulkHead connector BHA, then BHB (I don't know why!).
Here is the installation diagram showing as such. Open the hood and you'll see it on the firewall on the driver side. BHB is marked on this, then closer on the outside is the BHA. Under BHA you'll see the SAMchassis:
We're looking for connector X59 and X58 for input an output respectively.
THis should be MORE than enough information for you to solve your issue with basic inspects and checks. If any of that seems too complicated to your or you don't understand, then I would suggest taking your unit to a certified FTL dealer.
Now smash that thanks button. -
Thanks Rocketyman !!!!!
I have acess to EZ wire but was not able to pull up what you did only got the trans view. Maybe my access. is limited Freightliner likes to do that. The switch only grounds the circuit, there is no power to it ? -
I can help you later with more info. THat's good that you got access. I think if you prove you have ownership, they can give you some details and information. EZwiring being one of them that is very important for looking up the wiring specific to your unit like these sorts of things.
