Looking for some information about CA and CARB/ARB compliance. My truck is a 2014 and good to go. I haven't run into CA before but would like to have the option. I plan on running a reefer or dry van. Still undecided if I am going to get a straight van or just go with a reefer. I have tried understanding CA CARB stuff on their website but am a little confused. If I understand correctly I need Safeway tires, not sure on straight van fairings and the reefer I am really confused. What year reefer or at least reefer motor am I allowed to run in CA? Last question, do I need to register my equipment with CARB or do I just need to be compliant and able to provide compliance if ever requested? I am an out of state carrier, registered in UT.

I would get all your facts verified first, everyone here is just going to provide an opinion, vs the actual laws.
roadside checks are not uncommon.

I saw one on 65 in Lincoln just north of the SPI mill but that was probably ten years ago.
I think the last one I saw was set up at the scales on 299 west of Redding and that was five years or more ago.
The inspectors are still around, there just aren't very many of them. -
Lived and worked in CA for over 40 years, and the only carb inspection I've had was from my wife. She told me I'm eating too many carbs.
