Well, I had a small coolant leak, pulled the hose off to cut a new end, and found the nipple was cracked off at the base. I pulled off the fitting, and it looks to be a thermostat? Coolant hoses go in and out of this, while the top part sits inside the fuel hose fitting. I've typed in every related word I can think of to find a new replacement. Anyone know what this guy is called and/or where to get it? No clue on the number of the davco fuel filter setup either. No numbers or markings anywhere on it. Truck is a '99 379.

I dont know the model. And I know thats the heater, but inside its got a spring and a plunger that looks like a thermostat. Can I just bypass this, plug where it goes into the fuel fitting? Because the other side of the little fitting just goes right into the filter housing. Can the fuel get too hot? Maybe thats the reason for the "thermostat" thing.

That valve opens once your fuel cools down below freezing to heat that filter housing. By bypassing it will just heat that filter housing all the time which time of year its not going to hurt you. I dont know model but sure peterbilt dealer can tell you by vin number
