Demand extra money for driving there. Slower progress and higher risk of accidents, why not?

And if your company says no, tell them they can deliver that load themselves.

You decide where and when you drive, not them. You are the holder of the CDL, not them.

You, are taking the next 2 weeks off and enjoying the Holidays with friends and family!! Not just Christmas, but New Years as well!! Have some Christmas cookies and bubbly. It's been a hard year and you deserve it!!!

For me I don't get to drive I-81 much and when I do it's limited to 55mph or at night.:)

Let's slow down a bit and disect this. How much extra do you want to drive on 81? It does kinda suck I grant you. I just want to hear exactly how this conversation would go down. Lol

^^^^ Precisely. Sounds like some folks don't know these lanes. There is no money coming out of Hagerstown to Memphis. The money goes the other way.

81 is one of my favorite roads in the country. Not nearly as much construction these days. I'm up and down it every week, at 72 mph. Just plan around Roanoke, Knoxville and Nashville traffic around rush hours and you'll breeze right through.

Beautiful stretch of highway really. I use the southbound scales before the 40 split for parking. Lol. Don't do Nashville. F that nonsense. Just take 840 around. Always liked Memphis though.
Your right about the rates. Man, just get me to Memphis then the shoe is on the other foot. Lol

Are you talkin' about the huge scales at MM 23 on 81 southbound? I've always wondered if it was cool to park there.

Drivers should always ride with a really good padlock on the doors.

A bit confrontational to the spot that gives you a job huh? Do you demand extra pay when you drive through the Rockies? I think that's far riskier than I-81.

90% of the seals we have had cut in that area are bolt seals, and I’ve personally had a good padlock cut off also. One customer assigns us a door to park in if arriving the night before, due to bolt seals being broken. If they want in the trailer a padlock is not going to stop that

There may be truth to that. The only ones I've had broke were the cheap ones. Since I got a better one, I haven't had that happen knock on wood. Now to be fair, if I have a high dollar load, I won't go home with it.
