Does anyone know if the mirror ground wire is good, as long as it will light a test light off of the batteries? I am struggling with a high SWR, and wonder if I need to re do the grounding on the mirror arm.

    Thanks

its a 2006 peterbilt 379. Something in my SWR has changed, and my antenna and coax test ok.

Hopefully someone can come in and help you.

I'd suggest maybe running a ground strap.

    Timin770 Thanks this.

I am getting 2.5 on channel 1, and 3.25 on channel 40. Way too high, and I have the stinger all the way in on a 4 foot fiberglass firestick antenna. I am in the market for a new antenna, since my Wilson 5000 broke, I just have not made a decision on what to go with this time. Predator 10k, Stryker, or another wilson 5000. I have to figure out this swr issue first.

I'm still chewing on the SWR issue, but I'd recommend getting a 5-footer if it fits under bridges. That extra foot makes a big difference

What are you getting at the antenna?

The SWR is running about the same at both locations. I have put in line behind the radio, and also before the antenna. I tested the coax, and it is .2 Oms resistance, so it seems to be ok. I don't know if there is a test for the mirror ground, other that if it will light a test light or not. When I get back in the shop, I think I will redo all the ground wires and see what i get.
