So I'm at the pull off on I25 S between Midwest and Casper feeling like it's too windy...so I got the windy.app on my phone

Wx says 15-20 mph here and 29 gusts.
    But Windy shows

    So I guess the app
exaggerates a little? Looking like Denver isn't going to happen...:-(

The wind seldom stops on the eastern slopes of these mountains. Wait as long as you want, but it could be awhile. The best medicine is a heavy load.

Yesterday Windy showed me green in a stretch between Albert Lea, MN and Mason City, IA.
It was much stronger than that.
43k in the box and I was getting tossed around quite a bit.
It showed stronger winds just a bit south of there.
I shut it down at Crystal Lake.

After I left this morning I went past a nice little accident that happened during that time.
One semi bashed in on the right shoulder, two semi's bashed in on the left side, with a car thrown in.

NOAA radio said 50+mph gusts with blizzard conditions until midnight.
I guess some people don't take that stuff seriously.

There was a few rollovers on I25 between Cheyenne and Ft. Collins, all deadhead, this afternoon as I passed thru on my way to Salt Lake City. If your going to run empty you got to take the weather serious and plan ahead, I80, I25 in Wyoming especially. In fact, I just wouldn't do it, run deadhead.

I've seen fully loaded trailers turned over in Wyoming because of the wind.
45k in the box may not save you with a direct cross wind gust of 65.

Get yourself the Wyoming 511 app. I relied on that everyday of winter time to know if roads were safe to go on when I had to drive between every single city in that state. Not only are the roads color coded for safety but also deep detail is given about any adverse conditions.

Next time stop at the Midwest truckstop, that place has great food.

Default is to show sustained winds. Have to select gust to see those. But I am sure you guys already know that.

Comparing Windy, Myradar, Wx radio where available, road signage, what a headache.
Finally got south of Cheyenne this morning driving under the Wy sign telling me 60mph gusts while Windy was saying 5mph and 20mph gusts. Radio said I80 was bad but I wasn't feeling it.
