worst states to pull doubles out of

Even worse is where salt is.

 

I was behind 4 trucks yesterday all pulling doubles in Utah heading up to Soldier Summit. Snow was heavy and fhe road was iffy.
Every 1 of the 4 trucks lost traction on the single lane road and 1 slid into the oncoming lane.
The "chains required" sign was nit on but sometimes it's just better to do it sooner rather than later.

 

I've only ever pulled sets in Florida and Georgia, and I'm happy to keep it that way.

 

Well, the state of confusion isn't pleasant for doubles.

 

They may pay less, but your lifestyle will remain the same. National company officials already have a lifestyle in mind for you, and the local officials will tailor a pay package commensurate with that for the local economy.

 

Well, I live in Chicago. My friend just 50 miles south of me in Kankakee makes pennies on the dollar compared to his equal position at a Chicago-area company, but he lives very well there because of the lower cost of living.

Union contracts can vary from area to area based on the cost of living.

All companies need to be competitive in every area they hire from, and from their standpoint it doesn't make sense to be the best paying company in an area and pay New York wages in Fayetteville, AR.

They'd get the best workers from that area in theory, but they don't really care about that for the most part.

 

this thread assumes pulling doubles is hard...
deserves the same pay as any other door slammer
