    Hi Guys

I am in the market for a new cb antenna for my 2007 379 Peterbilt. I have been running a single Wilson 5000 on the drivers mirror arm. I must have hit a branch or something, but mine is broken where the stinger meets the plastic load. I am hearing/reading good reviews about the Astatic 3k, and also the Predator 10k antennas. I am running a Galaxy DX 98VHP radio with a RK56 mic. Not a huge amount of power, around 200w i think, but just too much for the Francis that I bought for temporary use. I am just wondering if I should try something new for an antenna, as I was not impressed with my last wilson 5000.

    Thanks

There is all kinds of options. I am just cautious with Wilson now, since I have had two CB shops tell me that Wilson is being made over seas, and has gotten cheaper. I guess they like to take on water, and don't last like they used to. I want to buy something that will last. I don't enjoy changing antennas and setting SWRs and also running the risk of burning up my expensive CB if I don't catch an antenna problem quick enough.

Predator 10k Competition antenna is about as good as it gets.

I have heard good things about the predator. Looks like there is a few predator options. I don't shoot skip. I just tend to stray to other bands when running with other drivers to avoid frustrating people on 19.

If you do buy a predator and plan on using a mirror mount, make sure you get a double coil so you can get down to height. They are great antennas.

He doesn't need a double coil, a single will work that's what I had on my 386 Pete and never had any problems and I was able to get the swr down to 1:1.

Does anyone know if the makers of the Predator 10K have a web site. I am not having any luck finding the models/lengths of the different ones.
