Clutch brake adjustment?

    The clutch is hydraulic there is no linkage to adjust.

    So that means there's no way to screw around with it so should just be a standard clutch adjustment, right?

    Yes. Adjusting the ring in the pressure plate will move the throw-out bearing back
    closer to the clutch brake. The hydraulic slave cylinder spring will move the fork back to compensate.

    Volvo says no adjustment to this clutch. $2238 for new.

    Other than the Solo self adjusting clutch I have never seen a clutch that could not be adjusted
    in my 40 plus years as a truck mechanic. Can you get them to give you the part number
    for the clutch from the build sheet for the truck?

    There is no part number on the estimate, just $1160 labor and $1078 for parts.
    I called them, part# 20970192
    Volvo does things a bit different, I'm told, so it's possible. Truck does have 635k on it, and was driven by multiple drivers before I got it. Occasionally it acts "odd', but I always attributed it to the slave cylinder, which has a minor leak, and the hose was replaced before I got it, with one that appears too long.

    you can ask to have an adjustable clutch put in that way if you float gears you self adj. clutch will not get stuck and need to replace it prematurely, there is a couple of things you can do like spacers behind clutch brake to buy some time but eventually the clutch will have to be replaced. the price quoted is actually pretty reasonable compared to what i have seen before so at least they are not trying to rip you off.

    Thanks. I think I'll just go with the same one. The original one went over 600k with multiple drivers, I only expect to go another 3 years, 300k or so, sell it and retire.
