Great buy, but I am really pissed now, I didn't realize DX was right in the same place as Summit, I was just down at Summit a few weeks back and if I would have known that, I would have bought a crap load of stuff I don't need from DX.

I live 11 miles east of there off of 76! Great for me............a little hard on the wallet! FYI the DXE showroom is closed due to COVID. You have to order online and pickup curbside.
Were you trailer truckin' or just shopping?

I went there to pick up an order for a driver of mine, he ordered three crate engines (and a lot of other parts so I had to use his 15 foot trailer) for his pet projects because he took a distressed load for us out of Iowa to Jackson Hole and then head down to Texas with the return trip so I told him I will save him the time and get it for him when he arrives back home on Christmas eve.

Radios can be a money pit, I have a receiver that is sitting behind me, won't say what it is but I will say it was a $500 plus radio when it was new in 1953. I have four of them I've collected through the years, one behind me will be restored and I expect the cost to be about $1100 when it is all said and done. I did the first one I bought a few years back and didn't chrome the chassis just a cabinet and component restore because it was nearly perfect.

I did another like it, Collins R390, which when I was done with it, turned out to be $800 restore cost and it sits on the table with the others which were restored.

When I say restored, well it is down to the components, nothing like what others do. The wiring harness is removed, wafer switches are cleaned and checked and so on.

As for my driver, I really am a prick, I make them work, my name is scrooge by the way.

Seriously, I try to take care of them, they make me money and with this past year being screwed up, I can afford to help them and others out.

Nice to see an owner that remembers what it's like out here! It should pay off for you in the long run!

Well I was able to use my new purchase again today to setup an antenna for my son, somewhat temporarily, on the company truck he'll be driving for the next couple of weeks. Much easier to get the antenna close enough that he might evenbe able to use his Connex if nothing moves or messes up after a day or two of jostling down the road! I told him to run his box stock Cobra 29 for a day or so to make sure. JD
