If you want info on the chinese knock offs......look for ezrider on youtube.
@Ezrider_48501KB3MMX, not4hire, D.Tibbitt and 1 other person Thank this. -
I have a Chinese one I bought for a camper. I've bench tested it and it's fine, but it's nowhere near the quality of the Espar or Webasto in your truck now.
Fix it! It's just carbon'd up. They all do it eventually. No need to replace a good piece with a worse one just because you don't want to do the maintenance. Or have someone else fix it. It will still be cheaper.
Oh, and you can get a Webasto for a lot less than a grand if you shop around.
If you don't want to fix your old one I'll give you $100 for it. -
i agree although the Chinese units do work, they are lacking in quality.
most likely your old heater is carboned up. seems like about every 2 years they need to be fully disassembled at cleaned out. new atomizer screen every year. glow pins rarely fail
i just ordered a new espar with controller and install kit for my Peterbilt for around $750
the espar in my mack is still going strong about 5-6 years and counting.
the chinnese unit i bought went in a camper van, it works it dosn't get near the amount of hours as the espar but there lacking in quality plus it kinda chapped my ### that not a single advertised spec on the Chinese unit was accurate. there good for recreational applications but id stick with a quality unit in a truck. -
Glow plug filters
-blitz- and BackwoodsGA Thank this. -
If you can't do it yourself take it to thermoking and they will change the filter and glow pin or rebuild it if necessary. It will be a LOT cheaper than blowing a grand on a new one and will work just as well.
