Hi WP,
Wilson is one I'm looking at for all the reasons you mention. TMC is another, but I'm not in their hiring area. Not a huge issue because I can use my parents' address in north Florida, and I do plan on moving back to the Southeast when all said and done. I spoke with a recruiter from both and got a different interest response. I told TMC my possible itinerary for June, and he was really interested. Asked a lot of questions, and we discussed logistics in moving to the area for training. He said he will call me through the months and see how things are progressing. By contrast Wilson, as soon as I said I wouldn't be able to start until summer, took the wind out of the sails and didn't want to talk much. "Call me in June."
I'm certainly entertaining staying with one company for the 10-15 years I can run. Both TMC and Wilson would be good choices to do just that. Just wish they did tanker.

Ah! You know me well, then.
To put it in greater perspective, for 20 years I worked at an Alternative Education campus (kids who get expelled). Fights, drugs, mental illness, home abuse/neglect, disregard for authority, etc. were daily norms.
Typical start of the day: "Good morning, class!" Response: "F*** You!"
I just rolled with it.
Yeah, I think if I can handle that for 20, I can handle a dispatcher, receiver, etc.Last edited: Jan 2, 2021

Number 3 goes by gallons. A container, even a tote that is loaded, not empty, that has a capacity of more than 119 gallons, and the total load is at least 1000 gallons, requires a tank endorsement no matter what kind of trailer it is on.meechyaboy, Rugerfan and hidden1 Thank this.

I noticed Wilson’s recruiters get frustrated. Too few actually work out driving for them. They just want to proceed. Not waste time talking for nothing.
Oh BTW.... Do not accept a driving job from BillyBob’s Alligator Eatery... Their drivers disappear.hidden1 Thanks this. -
Ya know I had a friend who drove for BillyBob.
Come to think of it, I haven't heard from him in a while

Dumb question time: why do reefers run at night so much? @Chinatown
-
They're noticed at night because many drivers sleep at night when truck stops are full. More traffic on the road during the day, so reefers won't be noticed as much.
Reefers run 24/7 if they're loaded, either on "continuous run" or "intermittent run" which depends on the freight being hauled.gräkken Thanks this. -
Oh, sorry I meant run as in driving, they tend to drive at night more than dry van, isn’t that right?

Most refrigerated loads are delivered in the wee hours of the morning. Lots of night driving which is one of the reasons I like refrigerated trucking.gräkken Thanks this.

Unless you are doing drop and hook. Then it just has to be there that day.
Live unload can be at night or early morning.
