Call the California labor board. Give them details of your employment. Ask them if not withholding taxes is normal?

I have always been 1099, before you call any one . Look at how much you are making, the experience you are getting. How are you treated.. Can you do better? If so move on.

Tru using TurboTax online. You can get advise from tax experts. They’ll make sure you’re doing it right. It will cost. But it’s worth it.
I hope you’ve been saving receipts for everything. When 1099 you can write off a ton of stuff. -

You have to pay 15.7% social security and Medicare. On top of your taxes.

Serious question. Why are you with a 1099 company straight out of school? There are 100's of W2 Companies to choose from. Criminal record? DMV record issues? Failed drug screen? I don't understand how you ended up with this company straight out of school. You don't have to answer if you choose not to. Just seems unusual.
