There's a free web site: Has lists and links to trucking companies that train. If you only have your permit and not your license several companies can train you and help you get it, but you will owe them. They make you sign a contract and if you drive for them don't like it and want to quit they will make you pay.

If I was going to do a company sponsored training I would do it with Schneider.

Advice on choosing a school or company training program.
I have looked at 2 schools here in Orlando, Mid Florida Tech and Roadmaster.
Mid Florida Tech seemed like the better program is 320 Hours and it only costs $2,000.00 but they do not have student loans.
Roadmasters program is only 160 hours for $6,500.00. The loans are 18% interest.
I have spoken with 2 recruiters. One was for Swift and the other for CRST.
I have been reading a lot on this form and I am nervous with all the horror stories. I am worried that with substantiated training I will make a mistake that will go on my DAC and hurt me in the future.
Could recommend any other options?
Thanks Brett -
Schnieder has a great training program..
As in everything you do it is up to you what you will get out of it.. Another words Schneider offers everything you need to become well trained long as "you take advantage of it". Whatever you decide to do far as choosing the place your going to train at. Don't be one of the people who are just there to be there, pay attention, ask questions, stay after, read the books while in the hotel room. Don't go out and hang around with the other guys going out to the club ext..
When I trained we had 5 people (class was like 50 people) who I did all my studying with.. We all wanted to get all we could from the training that Schnieder offered.. -
I have looked at Schneider. I am concerned about there Pre-Work Screen.
This Pre-Work Screen has been designed to reflect
the physical demands associated with work performed
at Schneider National.
Throughout the screening process your heart rate
will be monitored. As a safety measure and per our
testing procedure, your screen will be stopped if
your heart rate meets or exceeds 90% of your age
predicted maximum [(220 - age) X 0.9]. This is considered
a failed screen.
10 reps Squats, If I do 10 squats in a row I know my heart will be more than 90%.

Which mega carriers offer company paid training? If I have to sign on for a year its ok with me, I just really need a job. I have a CDL and a clean driving record. I tried roehl and was denied but they wont tell me why. I drove for covenant transport back in 2002 for about a year.
Good company, Bad company, at this point I dont care. There aren't any jobs in the paper in my area... and im scared. It sucks that Ill be away from my family if I go with a slave driving company but I gotta do what I gotta do at this point.

I would like too get some people's opinion of the best/better training companies out there.
I understand that most of them are not desirable to experienced drivers, but for a driver with no recent experiance there is no other options. I have driven OTR in the past and am willing to pay my dues again to get back into the industry. so please give me some input into what y'all think are the better ones. thanks

Froim what I have read on these forums, you will get nothing positive about any of them. I am going with Swift for training; however, I am not signing a contract as I plan on leaving after 6mo as a first seat driver. I will continue to pay Swift their monthly payment, but I will be making more doing so.

I've heard that schneider is hiring only experienced drivers. Some where I do believe I read that they shut down there school. That just might mean you don't have to go threw all that training. If that what your asking about
.
