I haul a lot of soil in my dump truck, with the cold weather it tends to stick and has to be scraped clean with an excavator. Is there something I can use to prevent the freezing/sticking? I’ve tried rock salt at the instruction of my boss but that hasn’t really worked out.

In NY we used to use recycled antifreeze, and spray it on the walls and floors. Worked like a charm.

Old way diesel fuel. New way a Soy solvent. Do not get caught using diesel on a state paving job in this day and age. But works best.

I've used a pump up sprayer of RV anti-freeze. It's pretty environmentally safe for the most part. The real cure is a UHMW liner.

That hand shovel wedged in the steps? That's what that's for,,:biggrin_25523:, not sure AF is the best, some tree hugger will accuse you of poisoning dumb animules or contaminated soil, maybe a little sand on the floor, that's what we did.

The reason RV antifreeze specifically is used a lot in end dump work is it’s non toxic, unlike automotive antifreeze. Glycol based rv antifreeze which we use, is actually safe to be ingested, albeit in very small doses.

    Hmm interesting.

Maybe I’ll have to tell our dump truck drivers that.

Will anti freeze cause issues with concrete decorative stones?

We haul a lot of stone for 2 companies that make decorative concrete blocks.

Best thing i ever used was calcium chloride with antifreeze mixed. Have used waste oil an waste antifreeze an diesel also. Had an air tank set up in the 90's tied into secondary air on truck with a 20 ft air line an spray nozzle. Best investment i ever made. Just stand up at front of trailer on ladder an could spray entire 40 foot trailer.

Thats what we used when hauling coal to the powerplant. After a winter season putting diesel on the dump bed and sides it was permeated in the aluminum. Liquid calcium chloride was furnished at times for us drivers. Hauling soil probably not a great idea to use either one. Leather footwear will shrink like a dried prune when exposed for a length of time. Take size 10 down to size 9 in a week or so. Lol
