If you don't make sure the cross chains are free of twists they will break.
Make sure there is no twists and they will probably last longer.D.Tibbitt and Dave_in_AZ Thank this. -
I live 50 mi from Donner and pretty much go over it daily. The chaining on wet roads is no joke and hard on chains. Nothing like seeing sparks flying. I have used good chains and still had the cross links break quickly. I snug them so tight can barely get 1 or 2 cams to turn and bungee them. So I'm back to the bag chains because I was just burning money on Pewags.D.Tibbitt, Dave_in_AZ, Cowboyrich and 1 other person Thank this.

How early CA. makes you chain is a joke, actually it's a method to slow down 4 wheelers because they don't care about your time or money, well money if they get some.D.Tibbitt, InTooDeep and Dave_in_AZ Thank this.
